I grew up rearranging furniture. My mom rearranges the living and family rooms numerous times a year, and on the
Anyway, it's bothered me that I could only think of one layout for this room - the couch dividing the living room from the dining room with the big green chair flanking the sliding glass door. So, with Mr. B out of the house, I started flip-flopping like John Kerry in '04.

And I love the result. Mr. B is undecided, but it's a cozier set-up - we can even set our drinks down on the coffee table, now. It's very exciting.
And, while we don't have a new sofa, we do have a new chair. I emailed Sherry at This Young House before the New Year and asked about the slipper chair they have in their Den and Living Room. She came through and I ordered the chair within seconds. B spent about 4 hours putting it together one night so he's not a huge fan of it, but since I wasn't around for the construction I love it.

This layout is soo much cozier! And excuse me while i drool all over that beautiful new slipper chair. Love the fabric and lines. And of course those lamps are like the perfect jewelry for the room.

ReplyDeleteWhere is the slipper chair from? I love it and I think it may look fabulous in my living room. Imitation is the highest form of flatter, right? Thank goodness, cause I couldn't do anythiing without seeing it first.
Never mind... found it at This Young House. How did I not know that TYH has an area with all of the sources of their pieces? Brilliant!
ReplyDeletesI like how it has a cozier feel since the couches and tables are closer together. You must be super woman to move all the furniture by yourself. Youve got me wanted to move my furniture around. By the way I like your dining room "board" that you made, how did you get that on your post?
ReplyDeleteI'll post real quick, but then I gotta go back and examine those pictures!
ReplyDeleteI love your new layout! It looks fantastic. It really seems to open up the space but it's still cozy. Great job! I had my eye on something a little like your slipper chair. I decided to wait on it though. We too need a new couch.

ReplyDeleteThanks Emily for the offer! I do not have Photoshop, I wonder if this is something that could be done in Publisher. I just got a new camera and photoshop is on my wish list. Our taste in decor seems to be very similiar, I just love coming over to see what you've been up to.

ReplyDeleteMy mom frequently enlisted me as her "helper" for rearranging furniture on the weekends as well. I'm a big fan of the rearrange--and yours is no exception! Great job babe. And I'm loving the new chair!
